BC-STV gaining momentum

Well, they are off and running in BC, and electoral reform will once again be on the ballot. If you are not from British Columbia, you may skip down to "EVERYONE" below. If you are from British Columbia, and you know everything there is to know about the BC-STV method, what it means, how it was chosen, and so on, you may skip to "EVERYONE FROM BC" below. For the remainder of you:Do you think that a party with 30% of the votes should get somewhere around 30% of the seats in your legislature?  Seems fair, right?  If so, you are a fan of what we call "proportionality."  BC-STV is more proportional than the system you are currently using, and so it is more fair.Do you think that political parties are paragons of virtue, and deserve to be the gate-keepers of democracy?  Nonsense, right?  If it seems to nonsense to you, then you want to limit the power of political parties in our electoral process.  BC-STV does that by making it easier for people to get elected without party affiliation.Do you think people are capable of disagreeing on more than one thing, and that maybe more than one disagreement should be up for debate in an election?  Seems obvious, doesn't it?  But the existing system prevents a variety of opinions from being represented.  BC-STV makes our political conversation more diverse.Maybe you don't really care about these things, and you don't see why you should.  That's fair.  That's fine.  But take this to heart:  A crapload of random people like you were force-fed an education in electoral systems a few years ago, and those people damn near unanimously said that BC-STV would be better than what you have.  That's the same thing that happens in every jurisdiction where random people are given an education and asked to choose.Don't assume that the status quo is better just because you don't understand the alternative.  Find out about it.  It is better.  And if you're not willing to find out about it, don't vote.EVERYONE FROM BCWe need you to lead the way.  Canada needs electoral reform.  But someone has to lead the way.  Please, please, please vote YES for BC-STV.EVERYONEIf you can, help.
