Alberta Politics

Thinking Ahead

Doug Griffiths, MLA for Battle River - Wainwright, is right.Read his article on the need for nuclear power in this province. It's important. But also ask yourself this: is he making a conservative argument, or a liberal argument?I think the answer is neither. Which goes to show what I've been harping on for a long time: the most important problems that Alberta faces in the next 50 years cannot be solved by disagreements over how conservative or liberal we are.

Much Ado About Green Nothings

When last I updated you on the situation with the Alberta Greens, their leader Joe Anglin claimed that the party was on the brink of deregistration by Elections Alberta because they had retained an accountant who determined that there was not sufficient information to provide Elections Alberta with the required financial reports.

The more names change...

There is an epidemic of identity crisis going through Alberta's opposition parties right now.

Update on Green Troubles

One of the things that excites me about blogging is that sometimes, you learn a lot from your comments section.Last week I posted on the troubles facing the Alberta Greens. That initiated a conversation in the comment section between a number of people closely involved in the matter. For those of you who don't want to read through the comments yourselves, here are the salient points:

In other collapsing Alberta party news...

Joe Anglin, leader of the Green Party, says that he doesn't think the Green Party is going to be able to avoid deregistration by Elections Alberta unless they decide to overlook the fact that they can't submit their audited financial statements for last year.Seriously.  This is dismal.

It's not easy being green.

It seems Liberals are not the only ones in Alberta sick of fighting against their brand instead of with it.
