Picking Sides

A couple of notes. First, on the meeting that was held in Calgary. I lost contact with Sarah, who was organizing the thing. I've tried to get information out of her on what happened, who was there, to no avail. Was anyone at the meeting? If so, get in touch with me and let me know what happened.

This is what Grassroots Looks Like

"In order to fix the ALP, we have to make sure there IS an ALP."

Corey Hogan of NewLiberal.ca fame is going to be running an event in Calgary at the same time that Laurie Blakeman and David Swann will be running one in Edmonton.

Book Review: The Political Mind

The Political Mind by George Lakoff is about what cognitive science is learning about how the brain works, and how that relates to how people think politically. The book talks about how understanding is now believed to be a process by which the brain creates and links contemporaneous experiences to one another with neural connections. Repeated “activation” in the mind of a given idea makes it easier for that idea to be activated in future. As a baby you are held by your mother.

I'm Getting To It, I Promise

Yes, I was at the democratic renewal event in Edmonton on Monday. Yes, it was fascinating. Yes, I'm going to blog on the experience. Just give me time.

Live-to-Disc-Blogging the Political Renewal Meeting

There was a meeting of people interested in renewing democracy in this province held in Edmonton last Monday night. I was there, and so was my laptop. Here's the report.

Shouldering Liabilities

The "liberal" brand may not be the only liability that the New Liberal people are looking at shouldering.I've heard it now from enough independent sources that I'm inclined to believe it: The Alberta Liberal Party is in serious financial trouble.
